Restaurant employee relief fund

RERF.us is currently experiencing technical difficulties due a tremendous surge in volume to the site, resulting in many users being unable to access RERF.us.

We are working as quickly as we can to correct the issue and handle the enormous amount of traffic. We will open the application process once we are better able to ensure access for restaurant workers seeking assistance for the fund.

 
In the meantime, here’s a checklist to get ready to prepare for the applications opening up. To fill out the application as quickly as possible please make sure you have everything below ready to go and submit online via the application portal.

  1. Reviewed and meet the eligibility criteria on www.rerf.us 
 
  1. A PDF copy or image of a pay stub that: 
  • Shows your name 
  • Shows your employers name 
  • Is dated on or before December 10, 2019 
  • Shows hours and/or amounts Year to Date (YTD) 
  
AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: 
  
  1. A PDF copy or image of a second pay stub that: 
  • Shows your name 
  • Shows your employers name 
  • Is dated on or after March 10, 2020 
  • Shows hours and/or amounts Year to Date (YTD) 
OR 
A letter/notice of termination that: 
  • Shows your name 
  • Shows your employers name 
  • Is dated on or after March 10, 2020 
OR 
Proof of unemployment benefits/claim that: 
  • Shows your name 
  • Is dated on or after March 10, 2020 
 
  1. From the pay stubs you are submitting you will need to report: 
  • Pay period (dates that the pay stub covers) 
  • Amount paid 
  • Hourly rate 
  
  1. Information on the restaurant, establishment, or food service organization you work(ed) for: 
  • Type of restaurant, establishment, organization 
  • Name 
  • Location 
  • URL 
  • Your position at the restaurant, establishment, or organization   

Once the application is live and you are ready to submit:  
  1. Go to www.rerf.us  
  1. Click on the link to apply 
  1. Create an application account on our application site 
  1. Follow the instructions on the application and submit! 

  
You’ll receive an automatic system email after successful submission (make sure to check your spam/junk folders).  After submission we’ll review your application and you’ll receive an email notification from us regarding the final status of your application.

About the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund

The NRAEF Restaurant Employee Relief Fund (“Fund”) was created to help restaurant industry employees experiencing extraordinary hardship in the wake of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. Through this Fund, non-competitive grants will be made to restaurant industry employees who have been impacted by COVID-19, including a decrease in wages or loss of employment.

Grants will be awarded as soon as possible to those individuals that meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, as reviewed and verified by the NRAEF.  A one-time grant of $500 will be disbursed directly to the applicant pending NRAEF’s review and verification that their submitted application meets the prescribed guidelines. Availability of awards will be based on available funds and will be limited to one per individual.  All grant approvals are at the discretion of the NRAEF.

ELIGIBILITY: Funds will be available for restaurant and foodservice employees who can demonstrate that they:

  • Worked on a part- or full-time basis in the restaurant industry for at least 90 days in the past year; and
  • Have had a primary source of income in the restaurant industry for the last year; and
  • Have experienced a decrease in wages or loss of job on or after March 10, 2020 which these grant funds will help offset; and
  • Live in the United States, an overseas U.S. military base, or any U.S. territory*; and
  • Are over the age of legal majority in their in their U.S. state or territory
*Depending upon the terms of certain contributions to the Fund, certain amounts may only be available for distribution in limited geographic areas

Individuals related to employees or board members of the National Restaurant Association or National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation ARE NOT eligible for grants.  All grants are made at the discretion of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

Need for Funds: One-time grants are for short-term COVID-19 related hardships in paying any of the following expenses only:
  • Rent or mortgage
  • Car payments / transportation costs
  • Utility bills
  • Student loan payments
  • Child care
  • Groceries
  • Medical bills
