How To Use RestaurantsWork
Career Pathways:
Step 1
View our list of more than fifty positions in the industry. If you like, review national trends of salaries and most widely posted jobs, farther down the page.
Step 2
Select a position from the list (for example, Pastry Chef).
This will open the job detail page for that position.
Step 3
On the job detail page, hover over the highlighted job to reveal detailed data and potential career pathways from that job to other positions at the same or higher experience levels. Pathway lines to the left from a given job show positions that lead to this job.
TIP: From this chart you can also hover over other positions to see their data and potential career pathways.
Step 4
Further explore a given job profile by scrolling down the page to see position descriptions and where posted opportunities exist throughout the U.S.
Jobs By Geography:
Step 1
Select a state from the interactive U.S. map.

Use the dropdown menus to select a (1) state and then (2) either a county or metro region in that state.
Step 2
Hover over a section of any map to view the number of current job postings and average salary in a region. Click on the region to refresh the data view for that location.
Step 3
You can also scroll down the page to see detailed data for the U.S. nationally or a chosen region, including workforce opportunities, statistics, and trends.
Step 4
As you click through to the state, county, zip code, or metro region views, the workforce data will update for that view.
