Military Programs

Programs for transitioning Military personnel, veterans, and their spouses

The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) works with all branches of the U.S. military while in service and in transition by developing programs designed to assist in their Military development, and transition skills needed for restaurant and foodservice jobs and careers when they decided to transition from the military. The programs are designed to help members of the military community and their families seamlessly enter the industry’s workforce and reduce veteran unemployment.

Training

Our training programs work with all branches of the U.S. military to help servicemen and women transition their skills and experience into restaurant and foodservice jobs and careers. These programs include the Advanced Culinary Training Program (ACTP) and the Chicago Military Foodservice Training.

Apprenticeship

Our restaurant management apprenticeship program provides on-the-job training through the Veteran Apprenticeship and Labor Opportunity Reform (VALOR) Act. Valor is approved for the post 9/11 GI Bill, which provides veterans with educational assistance.

Transitions

The Foundation supports a DOD Skillbridge pre-apprenticeship program for military members who are interested in the restaurant and foodservice industry.

Grants

NRAEF offers grants for Certified Restaurant Professional (CRP) to military personnel who participate in NRAEF Military Programs.

Scholarships

We offer post-secondary scholarships for the restaurant & hospitality industry for military personnel, veterans, and military families. Our scholarship and grant applications and awards are managed on a specific schedule.
